Have you found yourself sitting on the couch, stuffing your face with a giant bag of nacho chips, washing it down with a large glass of cola, and wonder why you’re fat? After your younger years you now discover that you have more body fat around your stomach, thighs and hips. Instantly you make a decision, you want to lose all the extra pounds, but you also resolve to grow healthy and strong while you are losing those extra pounds. That was me back in 2001. I’ve tried every diet imaginable, you name it I’ve probably done it. However, the Caveman diet is the one I suggest to all of my friends and family.
In earlier times, our ancestors never felt the need to lose weight. The simple reason was they were active in hunting and gathering which for all intents and purposes was “old school” exercise. They consumed fresh food and never ate anything that came from a package.
As time passed, people started consuming packaged and processed food because quite simply because it was convenient; this habit backfired, along with technological advancement which rescued man from the daily physical activities. Together these resulted in obesity rate of 33% in the United States as reported by the Centers for Disease Control!
The main goal of this simple diet is to achieve weight loss by simply eating the majority of food that was either grown, walking, or swimming.
How does it work?
Quite simply it means going back to your basics. In other words you have to think before you eat. Whenever you lay your hands on any food, ask yourself if a machine made it. If one did, don’t eat it. Then, you’ll need to drink plenty of water, and get plenty of rest.
Packaged goods and processed foods – made or ready to eat items like crackers, cookies, noodles, snack bars, etc were not on the menu of our ancestors. They would strictly live on the food cultivated by them or hunted by them. They would take the efforts to cook them and take the time to chew and enjoy their meal.
This not only kept them away from obesity but also they were strong and would stay active during their hunt for days. However if you compare yourself with them, you would find that each time you eat, you feel lethargic. The simple reason is your cooking is based on processed food and not fresh or healthy meals.
You might be puzzled whether there are any chances of this diet working? Well the answer is yes. You have to put yourself in the right frame of mind and resist the cravings of sugar and fried food. Eventually, these cravings will subside. In fact, I used to do 2 meals per week as a “cheat” meal, but over time, I felt so poorly the next day, I just eliminated this in my nutrition program.
You will feel that while your energy level is going higher and your are becoming more active at the same time, your hunger soon disappears. This helps you to keep the unwanted fat at bay. Let’s be honest, you can’t change the channel or surf the web without someone touting their magic diet plan will melt fat like a flame to a stick of butter. Some diets will make you weigh and measure and keep a detailed log, not this program. You will feel much fuller quicker when you eat “real” food.
So what can you eat?
Here is a short list:
Proteins-lean beef, veal, pork loin, chicken, turkey, eggs, wild game, and seafood
Carbohydrates-fruit (try to eat those low in sugar, and low amounts), vegetables
Fats-olives, macadamia nuts, avocado, and yes butter
What can’t you eat?
As mentioned previously, nothing packaged. Avoid sugar, vegetable oil, hydrogenated and partly-hydrogenated oils including but not limited to, margarine, corn oil, lard, and sunflower oil.
In summary, try this diet for 21 days to see how it works for you. As always consult your physician prior to making any change to your diet. For a busy father and husband like me, this is the only one I would recommend to my friends or family.

Do you want to know how to lose fat fast? What’s your definition of fast? How long did it take you to get fat? There are some very important things that you should keep in mind if this is your goal.
There are tons of diet plans out there. Many of them are very good. But really what you need are just a few simple ingredients that have to be in place in order to begin losing weight quickly.
Fortunately, those who are taking the time to structure their program properly can see the success that they’re looking for and learn how to lose weight fast and keep it off.
In my weight loss journey almost ten years ago, I was happy losing a pound per week. That to me was fast.
You Have to Plan Your Meals Ahead of Time
The very first thing that you should be doing if you want to learn how to lose weight fast is planning all your meals in advance. There’s no two ways around it, if you want to see the absolute best success from your efforts, planning is of paramount importance.
If you fail to plan, then plan on failing. You need to have a plan so you don’t resort to eating processed food which is high in calories but low in nutrients.
You won’t be tempted by your friends to go to the new burger joint with the truck load of French fries they give you with each burger purchased. Nor will you have to order a pizza because you had not derived a suitable plan for the next day, or week.
I like to plan every Sunday evening, where I will plan my meals out for the week, and make sure that my wife is on board with my plans for dinner.
Yes this is a lot of work. But obviously what you are doing now isn’t working. Losing weight is hard. It requires you to do things you aren’t accustomed to doing.
The More Vegetables the Better
The nice thing about veggies is that the majority of them are low in calories but very rich in nutrients. They are also going to give you a supply of key nutrients that your body needs in order to function as a well oiled machine.
Also, be careful of those higher starchy vegetables such as carrots, potatoes, peas, and corn as these will contain more calories and could put more of a dent in your daily intake.
Cycle Your Calories
The next very effective thing that you must do if you hope to see success with your diet is utilize a calorie cycling approach.
Major problems can occur when you go on a very low calorie diet plan and stay there for an extended period of time.
As you do this, you’re essentially telling the body that it’s time to conserve fuel. As such, the body will slow down its metabolic rate so it’s close to matching your intake. In terms of your progress, this means your weight loss will come to a halt.
A much better way to learn how to lose fat fast is to utilize a calorie cycling approach. With this approach rather than having all very low calorie days, you’ll alternate some lower calorie days with some higher calorie days in the mix.
This way, you can trick your body into burning up more energy all throughout the week.
Don’t Overtrain
Finally, the last of our tips for how to lose fat fast is to make sure you don’t overtrain. In the beginning people always tend to get too aggressive, and make some radical changes. For me, I eased into all aspects of my lifestyle change.
People in general do not like to be uncomfortable. If you go off the deep end in the beginning, I believe that your chances for success will be limited. You won’t stick to the plan because it is too “hard.”
It is simply old school to say no pain no gain. It isn’t smart training at all. Ease into any training program, warm up properly, and then do the workout, and cool down properly.
